Antico Fuoco is located in the legendary area of the Veneto in northeastern Italy. Its name translates to "ancient fire" which pays homage to the enjoyment of food and wine around a campfire after harvest.
Wine has been made in this region for thousands of years. It was very popular and often used as currency. One enterprising winemaker thought that planting grapes near bodies of water would make it quicker to load onto ships carrying the wine to waiting customers. No doubt whoever thought of this idea was hailed a genius. However, unbeknownst to anyone back then is that these vineyards near bodies of water have ancient sea matter below them which just so happens to be the finest natural fertilizer known.
Antico Fuoco is owned by Massanois, a New York importer and wholesaler founded in Spain that specializes in small, organic wineries that make a statement about the grape and the ground in which it was grown. Our selection makes that statement.
Most of Italy is known for red wine. But, the Northeast is known for white and unquestionably the finest whites in the country. It sports everything white grapes need: rolling hillsides, cooler temperatures and ancient seabeds. Our selection is a perfect example of this trifecta of ingredients. All work in harmony to deliver a wine that's clean and fresh with tropical fruit notes to harmonize with a plate of fine cheeses or fresh sardines.
