Heliotrope comes to us from one of the largest wineries in California, Bronco Wine Company. It's more of a dynasty. It all started when Teresa Carrara married Giuseppe Franzia just after the turn of the 19th Century and moved to California to plant the first Franzia vineyard near Yosemite.
Today the company owns 40,000 acres of vineyards in California, over 10,000 are organic, and the rest are being converted gradually. They are currently the largest vineyard holder in the state and will eventually be the most abundant organic vineyard in California, if not the world.
Their size and scope allow them the luxury of producing outstanding wine at amazing prices. They employ every imaginable state-of-the-art technology to make sure that everything that goes into the bottle is of top quality.
Our selection is doing its part in the new craze for light, slightly sweet wines that are lower in alcohol. It started with Moscato d'Asti, an engaging Italian wine with a slight sparkle and a clean, fresh finish. In the last ten years, it spawned a revolution. Then somebody discovered that you could make the same style of wine with a blush color, and things took off once again.
While the base of our selection is Moscato, small additions of Gewurztraminer for spiciness and a touch of ros? for body and color round out a perfect amalgam. Here is that luscious fruit, low alcohol, and crisp finish to match anything from a Chinese chicken salad to sausage and peppers.
