Pio Cesare is one of the most recognizable powerhouse producers in Piedmont, now ran by the Fifth Generation of the Cesare family. The estate was founded by its namesake in 1881. He was a successful entrepreneur and since he was in the Nebbiolo capital of the world, Barolo and Barbaresco, he decided to make wine for his friends and family. A business almost always starts out this way.

Of course, the business grew larger as their wine reputation soared. They became known for their world-class Barolo and Barbaresco and sweet divine Moscato. All wines Pio Cesare creates are of the utmost quality and intriguing variety. The unique method of producing such wines is with minimal intervention to add exceptional supple flavor expression. Recognized for their consistency, they will not disappoint.

Italy is all about tradition and there is no tradition longer than the Moscato grape. It was undoubtedly the first grape made into wine some 8,000 years ago since it was essentially the only grape growing in the region. Nearly all the thousands of grape varieties originated from Moscato. It may sound peculiar since many of those grapes, like Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, are about as far from Moscato as you can get. But thousands of years of mutation can eventually produce distinct grapes far from the original.

Our selection is none other than pure joy. From the ripe honey-like nose, apple infused flavors and slight sparkle, it pleases on every pour. With cookies and fruit or all by itself, the low 5% alcohol assures a delight with no downfalls.
