The Bonfante name in Piedmont goes back eight generations. The current estate was founded by Marco and his sister Micaela in 2000 and in a very short time have established themselves as one of the premium performers in Piedmont. Piedmont is internationally known for one grape, Nebbiolo, which is unquestionably one of the greatest red grapes in the world. The wines which emanate from this grape can stand beside any others no matter their origin.

But Nebbiolo is not their entire story. There are two grapes that sit on the dessert end of the spectrum; Moscato which is known all over the world and Brachetto, which is hardly known at all. Moscato is a light, refreshing wine that is slightly sweet and low in alcohol. Brachetto can be called its red counterpart.

You are first drawn to this wine by its unique color. The body is light crimson and the edges almost pink. You can see a slight activity of bubbles, which the Italians call "frizzante." Combine these elements with the engaging fruit and acidity and you have a wine that seems to last endlessly on the palate.

The impression is a dichotomy as it can only be described as persistent lightness. Its airy form is rather confused with its presence as both shouldn't work together as well as they do.

It enters like a black cherry foam across the palate and then brings on coffee, rose petals and cocoa in an endless swirl but all with the lightest of touches. From chocolate to cherry pie, this beauty crosses all boundaries.
