Mauro Camparo took over the family estate in Piedmont nearly 30 years ago. He converted to organic farming in 2000, one of the first to do so in Piedmont. Besides their vineyard in the Langhe, they also own a small parcel in Barolo, considered the most celebrated wine in Italy and one of the greatest in the world.

Old world wines are all about the size and location of the vineyard. The smaller the vineyard is, the better the wine. This has been the known standard like this for centuries. When a little sub-plot is proven to produce superior wine than the rest, it is singled out for recognition.

Piedmont, in and of itself, is considered one of the most significant areas of the world for wine. The most exceptional area in Piedmont is Langhe, where our selection is grown. Within the Langhe are two significant wine areas, Barbaresco and Barolo. Nebbiolo is the only grape allowed in those areas and planted in the Langhe, along with Dolcetto and Barbera, which pretty much covers most of the wine here.

There are a few Nebbiolo grapes grown in the Langhe. And some of them can compare to Barolo, but at a fraction of the price. Our selection is a blend of Dolcetto, Nebbiolo, and Barbera, with the last two aged in French oak barrels for six months.

Here is an outstanding rendition of how these grapes marry to form a perfect whole. The lovely fruit combined with the grip and spice is a call to roast lamb with mint chutney or duck breast with wild cherries.
