Our selection was created by Leogate Estate Wines in Australia's Hunter Valley. The Hunter Valley is located in Australia's largest wine appellation, New South Wales, which is 150 miles north of Sydney. It is the northernmost wine area in Australia and thus, the warmest. Leogate boasts two outstanding vineyards, Brokenback in Australia and Zeals in New Zealand. Brokenback was first planted in the 1960s and was regarded as one of the top vineyards in the country. The 220 acres under vine here are now certified organic and sustainable. Zeals grapes were sold to Bill and Vicki Widin, who eventually purchased the vineyard in 2016.

The "Miracle" on the wine's name refers to the grapes that result from the trellising method used to raise the vines branches in order to expose them to the sunlight. When this method was first seen by the Greeks in Italy over 2,500 years ago it was considered a miracle. The "Wire" pays homage to a Blue Wren on the wires in the Zeals Vineyard, signaling coming rain and good fortune.

Our selection is 100% Shiraz, which is the name producers in the Southern Hemisphere, mainly South Africa and Australia, use instead of Syrah, which is used in most of the rest of the world. Even though the grape was brought here from the northern Rhone, it was thought to be originally from Persia. This is because Persia's capital was named Shiraz, but DNA testing has concluded that its origin is the Rhone Valley in France.

Our selection is a classic rendition of the big and bold flavors we expect from the Hunter Valley. Layers of black fruit and earth, white pepper, and plum are just the ticket for lamb on the barbie or a charred rib eye.
