Recently, news outlets from NPR to NBC have run stories on current trends among younger wine drinkers touting healthy and natural wines. Marketing teams and advertisers promise a healthy, antioxidant-rich wine for a health-conscious generation. Yet for the world of wine, newer does not necessarily mean better, so it's essential to back up such claims. Lifevine is one of these winemakers. They back up their pesticide and contaminant-free wines with an experienced and talented team of winemakers with decades of experience in Sonoma and Willamette Valley.

Lifevine's 2018 Pinot Noir exemplifies a pure winemaking ethos and a classic expression of a traditional varietal. This wine, as well as their Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, are made according to the strictest standards of purity, with minimal intervention from sustainable vineyards. The result, while being nothing new, is nonetheless the best expression of what conscientious winemaking can achieve. These efforts are further bolstered both by independent testing and awards like the Clean Label Project Purity Award and the Clean Label Project Antioxidant Superiority Award.

This Pinot is a bright, dark red wine with pink hues at the rim, evidence of its having been bottled young. The nose has aromas of sassafras, mushroom, mineral, and spice that lead into ripe fruit flavors of dark cherry, ripe raspberry, and wild red plums. The structure is firm and detailed with lifted acidity and structured tannins that will soften with time in the bottle. Pair this Pinot Noir with an array of charcuterie (from dried sausage to p?t?), chargrilled vegetables, roasted mushrooms, or sweet glazed pork tenderloin.
