When Paul Bouron learned that his tuberculosis was terminal and the doctors had done all they could, he decided to do something himself. He changed his farming methods to 100% organic. He was one of the first to do so in Entre-Deux-Mers back in 1964.

As he introduced more organics into his vineyard, his condition improved. Unfortunately, he did pass on 40 years later of old age. It's important to note here that nobody can really know if organic farming produces a better wine. But, we do know the tremendous impact it has on those who use it. It is more of a health benefit to the workers than it is to the vines.

In 2014, the family sold the chateau to Gerard Lobre who began converting the vineyards to biodynamic farming, which is an even stricter method than organic. His family have been winemakers since the 18th Century.

Changes were made in the winery as well as introducing a new press that crushes the grapes more gently, releasing less tannins and producing more fruit and flavor in the wine. They also reduced yields to further concentrate the flavors in the grapes.

Our selection is a classic Bordeaux blend of 55% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Petit Verdot. The gentle pressing shows here, as the flavors of plum and cassis are quite vibrant, the finish seductive and ready to take on a pork tenderloin seasoned with mustard and tarragon or a garlic lathered rotisserie chicken.
