The history of Domain Garance goes back to 1977 when Bertrand and Claudie Cortellini purchased 15-acres in Castillon. They planted and sold the top terroir sourced grapes to local wineries. As things would have it, those local wineries began winning awards with the Cortellini grapes, but it took nearly 20 years for them to eventually make their own wine. In 1996 they purchased a new property in Saint-Hilaire-d'Ozilhan and with the help of family and friends, were able to turn their dreams into reality. One year later they produced a wine under the label Domaine Rouge Garance. In 1999 their cellar expanded, they were producing five cuvees, and their estate measured 70 acres. They presently produce nine wines.

In 2010 Domain Rouge Garance was awarded the Ecocert Organic Certification. They have returned to older, more traditional practices in winemaking and belong to a group of Southern wine growers called "Les Toques des Dentelles." The winery isn't just organic though. It is also sustainable; they ensure that their soils are worked without the use of pesticides and all the work in the vineyards is done by horse and plow or by hand. It allows Bertrand and Claudie to inspect every vine in every part of the vineyard and the ability to notice any disturbance in their quest to make great wine. They care for the vines above all else, ensuring the health of the soil, plants, and ultimately, the wine drinker. Bertrand's excellence as a winemaker increased by leaps and bounds until today when he is considered one of the finest in Provence.

The grapes for this selection came from their vineyard within the Cotes du Rhone appellation. It is a classic blend of 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 10% Cinsault. The vines are a minimum of 20 years old, and the maturity of the grapes shines through in the finished wine. Tart cherry, crushed strawberry, and spice emanate from the glass and spread the joy of their elixirs far and wide. The aroma's promise is fulfilled on the palate with luscious ripe fruit and tantalizing structure.
