Our selection is the handiwork of Etty Klein, a certified Wine & Spirit Trust and American Sommelier Association member. Her escapades in the wine industry has graced her in many pages of the press and even a few covers.
She is currently the President of Plonk, a producer of sustainably sourced organic and biodynamic wines from all over the world. She insists that the only thing that goes into the bottle is the wine made from grapes and that nothing is used on the vines or in the wine that emanated from a bag or box.
Her ventures take her to the most startling of places like Tarn, in the southwest of France within site of the Pyrenees. Here she found this engaging mouthful of flavor and named it Bons Vivant, which translates to "living well." This wine certainly lives up to the name, and well!
The blend here is a unique marriage of Gamay and Syrah. We would never have imagined such a combination, but then again, we're not Etty Klein. One sip and we were sold. These two grapes are such a perfect match we wondered why nobody ever thought of it before.
The Gamay accounts for the violets and raspberries. The Syrah adds cassis and backbone presenting a lively offering that is fun and "flirty," a word Etty loves to use to describe her wines. We can imagine this zesty selection with myriad flavors including eggplant parmigiana, spicy lamb sausages or chicken with 40 cloves of garlic. We'll add another word to the pile, "Yum!"
