Here is another gem from our friends at O'Neill Vintners. This Chardonnay is from one of the premiere vineyards in California, Arroyo Seco, located in the heart of the Monterey appellation.
Arroyo Seco translates to "dry riverbed," which is nothing short of a perfect place to grow grapes. Millions of years ago, this area was under water. As the river receded, it left tons of sea matter, shells and the like in its wake. The nutrients in this matter mixed with the rocky subsurface to create the ideal soil to plant vines.
Add to that soil the cool, ocean-influenced climate of Monterey, and the conditions can't get much better. This combination only exists in a few areas in the world, and every place it does just produces great wine. None of this is lost on O'Neill. Their holdings and experience are so vast that they can take advantage of every positive influence to make great wine.
Our selection takes advantage of all the positives. Half of the wine is barrel fermented, and the other half is fermented in stainless steel. This allows for a touch of oak but doesn't permit it to overtake the wine.
The result, as we would expect, is absolute perfection in winemaking. All of the flavors are in precise harmony and balance, presenting not one flavor over another but an integrated whole greater than the parts. Nothing but pure Chardonnay pleasure here. Enjoy!
