Garabed Kurkjian founded the Lebanese Arak Corporation in 1938 under the name Carlo Winery. It has evolved into a modern international beverage company now located in Los Angeles, California. With the third and fourth generations at the helm, LAC Products is a recognized producer, and custom bottler in the US, as well as an importer and distributor of wine (among many other beverages) from Europe, Armenia, the Middle East, and Russia. This fine Cuvee St. Gregory Sauvignon Blanc comes to us from LAC by way of Bourgogne-Franche-Comte in Eastern France.

Much of the Franche-Comte area is largely unknown to tourists, yet it is home to rolling countrysides from the Jura Mountain range to large forests, historic chateaux and religious buildings, beautiful villages, and a scattering of major towns, including Dijon. Chatenoy-le-Royal is a commune within Bourgogne-Franche-Comte. With mild sunny days, warm soils, sufficient precipitation, and cool nights, the terroir in this region is known for producing exceptionally high-quality white wine grapes.

On the palate, Saint Gregory Sauvignon Blanc is fresh and light-bodied with moderate acidity. On the nose, expect a balance of sweet and pungent aromas ranging from freshly cut grass to tropical and ripe passionfruit, grapefruit, and even mango. Try pairing this wine with grilled chicken, roasted pork, or simply prepared seafood. It is also a wonderful partner to herb-driven sauces, think chimichurri or Italian style salsa vert. Whatever the pairing, remember that the wine is light, so keep pairings light, and be sure to enjoy it chilled between 45 and 49?F.
