Santos and Jose Robino founded Dante Robino in 1949 in the heart of Argentina's premium wine district, Mendoza. From humble beginnings, they grew to produce nearly one million cases of wine, half of which is sparkling from their 1,000 acres of vineyards.
The winery is currently owned by the Squassini Family, direct descendants of the original founders. In their quest to produce the finest wines possible, they enlisted the famous Paul Hobbs as their consulting winemaker. Paul is renowned worldwide in the Wine Industry as one of the finest international winemakers on the planet.
Hobbs has worked as a winemaker for Opus One and Simi. He later advised such names as Peter Michael, Fisher, Lewis, and Catena, among others. He founded Paul Hobbs Winery in 1991 and nowadays is one of the most renowned flying wine consultants in the world.
Our selection is nothing short of a world-class Malbec from the country, which does it better than anyone else. Here are all the explosive characteristics of great Malbec from Mendoza.
The stunningly dark and imposing color signals the dense flavors to come and does it ever. Dark chocolate combined with blackberry and leather form a massive combination. That would love roast leg of lamb on a mesquite fired rotisserie finished with garlic and caramelize shallots or a charred steak topped with onion rings and sitting or pureed hominy doused with garlic and fresh mint.
