We were delighted to learn that our incredible selection was crafted by the Bogle Family. The name reflects its beginnings when Warren Bogle planted his first vineyard of 20 acres in 1968. Over 100 years earlier, his great grandfather came to the California Delta from Tennessee, purchased land, and grew cherries, peaches, and pears.

The grapes from those initial 20 acres were sold to other wineries until 1979. The family had built their winery and began making their own wine with their own label. Today, the family controls over 1,000 acres of grapes on some of the richest farmland California has to offer.

We first became acquainted with Bogle from their very first vintage. It was an incredible wine at an incredible price and it's nice to see that the current generation is keeping up with that tradition. All the grapes for our selection came from that original vineyard. At this age, the vines are producing at the pinnacle of their potential. The production has decreased, but the flavors and extracts have only improved.

You can almost taste the longevity of these vines with the first sip. There is both a richness and a softness that seem to seamlessly coincide in spite of the fact that in many ways these qualities are opposites. The aromas of cassis and blackberry are immediately present on the palate, adding spice and vanilla to an already expanding mix. The whirl and swirl of flavors would amplify a prime rib charred tri-tip.
