Our selection is crafted by the Ventisquero Estate founded by Gonzalo Vial in the coastal plains of Chile's Maipo Valley in 1998. It was the first winery in a sub-appellation called Trinidad and was the first Chilean winery to be certified sustainable in 2013.

Chile is a remarkable area for growing wine grapes. Most of the vineyards are 3,000 feet in elevation where the air is clean, the temperatures cool, water from the runoff of the Andes plentiful, and there are no pests to deal with that could harm the vines.

Grapes were first planted here in the mid-19th century, which is about the same time major plantings began in California. The vines flourished, but the country didn't as its political climate was very unstable. It remained in that state for over 100 years until things began to turn around. That was when the rest of the world noticed as foreign investors began arriving to take advantage of its perfect conditions for growing grapes.

They began with the classic Bordeaux varietals, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, but eventually spread out to Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Syrah. While every varietal can take advantage of the conditions here, it's the Sauvignon Blanc that has impressed us the most.

Our selection displays searing flavors of white peach, apricot, fresh cut herbs, and citrus which are as bright and clean as the air here. The clinging acidity brings all those nuances into focus and can match a broiled Branzino with fresh herbs as well as a spicy tomato pasta.
