In the heart of Chile's Casablanca district, Albamar was first planted with vineyards in the 1980s by visionary Pablo Morande. People used to think that the area was unsuitable, yet Pablo knew better. As it turns out, Casablanca is now considered one of the premium wine growing areas in Chile.

Albamar takes its name from the Spanish "alba," meaning "rising sun." The vineyard now belongs to William Cole, whose family has been in the grape business for generations. Initially, it was believed the land was too cool to grow grapes. By planting grapes facing north, however, they get morning, afternoon and evening Southern Hemisphere sun, ripening slowly.

These conditions are now considered the ideal way to plant vineyards. For centuries, grape growers thought that grapes needed heat to ripen. Modern science shows what they need most is light. All the heat does is raise the sugar levels and lower the acidity, neither of which is beneficial.

Our selection is a carefully grown and harvested wine with incredible depth of flavor and a tingling finish. Rocky soil contributes an engaging minerality, coupled with pear, white nectarine and citrus.

The natural acidity holds in check the complex flavors, allowing the entire experience to leave your palate clean, crisp and yearning for more. Chile keeps giving us wonderful expressions of this grape, and here's another one.
