Our selection comes to us from a large negociant producer who specializes in premium wines from Europe, specifically France and Italy. We are increasingly finding that most of the best values are coming from companies like Advantage International. And, as our members keep telling us, it's all about the wine.
The advantage companies like this have is that they are not bound by having to make a wine in a vintage in which Mother Nature threw them a curve. No matter how difficult a vintage is, there are always several producers who were relatively unscathed. After decades of building relationship with these producers, Advantage has, well, a real advantage here.
Of course, when you hit a spectacular vintage like 2018 in Italy's Veneto region, it's almost an embarrassment of riches. The Veneto is nestled in the Northeast corner of Italy and is blessed with one of the most temperate climates in the country. There is almost no such thing as a difficult vintage.
Pinot Grigio is the bedrock white grape of Italy. It is the most planted white in the country and is produced in all 21 states on the mainland as well as Sicily. If it says one thing about the grape, it's that it is adaptable, but it is never better than when it hails from Northern Italy, specifically the Veneto.
Here is majesty in the glass. Lovely hints of white flower, tropical fruits and spice honor the glass and casts an allure on pasta with fresh sardines and shallots or boneless chicken thigh stuffed with prosciutto and Provolone.
