Owner and winemaker, Marcelo Bocardo, is a 3rd generation wine master of Italian immigrants. He was born in Argentina's principle wine district, Mendoza, and followed his grandfather and father into winemaking and grape growing. The name means "old tower" in Spanish and refers to the tower on the label.

Other than that, nothing about the way Marcelo grows grapes and makes wine is "old". His 30 years of experience, the last 20 of which were spent at his own winery, has taught him that new technology and new ideas are coming at us faster than ever and we can never slip in keeping up. Marcelo's wines are a testament to that. One of the first things he did was to purchase an organic vineyard. There was no doubt that this was the wave of the future and Marcelo was at the forefront. He was also one of the few to begin using French oak barrels instead of American oak. The cost of a French barrel is three times the cost of the American, but the results were beyond comparison.

As a result, we feature this exceptional selection that could seriously be compared to a fine Bordeaux. The blend is a classic Argentine mix of 50% Malbec and 25% each of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. This combination along with eight months in French oak, produces an amazing amalgam of complexity from black cherry and cedar to leather and cranberry. The stunning swirl of flavors would enhance a whole roasted suckling pig infused with garlic and rosemary or a bison burger with bacon and aged cheddar.
