Malbec is a French varietal and one of the original 5 "Bordeaux" grapes but today the most popular place for Malbec is Argentina's province of Mendoza. Known as Argentina's wine country, the high-altitude wine regions of Mendoza, like Lujan de Cuyo and the Uco Valley where this wine comes from produce fantastic Malbec. These wines tend to be more fruit forward with mellower tannins than Malbec in France.

This wine from Torrevieja comes from a vineyard hosting 10-year-old vines planted high up in the Andes Mountains within the heart of Maipu, Mendoza, and the oldest region making first-class wines in Argentina. The grapes are grown organically, and the wine is fermented in concrete vats before it is aged for eight months in French barriques.

This distinctive and bold wine has a delicate violet color with glimmers of garnet. It has intense red and black fruit aromas, such as strawberries, cherries and blackcurrant, and violets all harmoniously mixed with soft spices. On the palate it is round with a predominance of black cherry plum, raisins, and raspberry. There is a surprising juiciness and acidity with a pleasantly long finish with some residual of sweet and notes of tree bark and resin. This wine makes an ideal match for semi-hard cheeses, grilled or BBQ red meats. For an authentic Argentinian style BBQ, incorporate parsley, garlic, olive oil, oregano, vinegar, and chili pepper for a chimichurri sauce that will complement this wine in every way.
