Bremerton Wines and Vineyards are part of the Willson family-owned company, in the region of Langhorne Creek in South Australia. Langhorne Creek is unique in that it sits on the rich soil of the Bremer River flood plain and is known as a cool climate region. This region is known for its heathy vines, being relatively free from many of the diseases that attack vines, and is a producer of consistently high-quality fruit, since around the 1850's. Bremerton Wines came out with their first Cabernet Sauvignon in 1988 and has continued to evolve and grow ever since.
With winemaker Rebecca Willson and marketing manager Lucy Willson at the helm, they have focused the family's wine range on high quality and individualistic wines. They have given Bremerton a strong foothold in a highly competitive wine market and have taken Bremerton to become one of the best known brands from South Australia's Langhorne Creek wine region.
The complementary varietals of Cabernet and Shiraz were used to craft this Matilda Plains red blend. It has been carefully blended to provide a generous and well-balanced palate displaying mouth filling fruit, complementing soft well-integrated tannins and a lingering finish. On the nose this wine has hints of dried mint, cassis, red and black berries, and ground pepper. This moves into deep plum notes on the palate with hints of black olive. It is supple and ripe, with a soft and warm finish. This wine will pair with classics such as roast beef with pepper sauce, or grilled lamb. It will also pair nicely with strong hard cheeses, or a mild blue. If you're feeling adventurous, enjoy this wine with anchovy toast or pizza.
