Napa gets a lot of attention for its Cabernet Sauvignon. Some say too much. We agree, which is why we have expanded the club to include Sonoma and particularly Alexander Valley. The wines from here are just too good to ignore.

And, speaking of Goode! Murphy-Goode was founded in 1985 by Tim Murphy and Dale Goode. Winemaker, Dave Ready, was involved but somehow didn't make the cut for getting his name on the label. No matter, he made some of the best wines Alexander Valley had ever seen, and now his son, Dave Ready, Jr., is doing the same.

Alexander Valley is named after Cyrus Alexander, who owned part of a Mexican Land grant in 1847 and recognized the area's unique properties for viticulture. Grapes were already being grown for winemaking, but it wasn't until 1984 that Alexander Valley became an official AVA, American Viticultural Appellation.

Tim and Dale recognized the potential here for making exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon and staked their reputation on it. It was a good bet. Their first release was a blockbuster, and they've been hitting them out of the park ever since.

Over the years, we have featured their Cabernet Sauvignon to the great delight of our members. And are excited to do so again. The flavors and textures here are unmistakably Alexander Valley. The big, dense, black fruit blends seamlessly with dark chocolate creating an imposing combination that screams for a charred rib eye slathered with caramelized onions and black pepper or a Cognac and mushroom cream sauce.
